Dianne’s Story

At Kingdom Causes Bellflower, our mission hasn’t changed. We believe that every neighbor has a place to live, work, and belong. If you’ve been following our posts, we try to tell stories as often as possible to highlight these pillars, and this week, as we focus on the "live" aspect of our mission, we are honored to share this story from Dianne. Recently, we received a heartfelt letter from her, and in that letter, she shared her challenges in moving across the country to support her family during a tough time. While we can’t share her letter in full due to our privacy policy, we received permission to share some of her inspiring story of hope. You won’t want to miss this one.

Dianne reached out to us after moving from Colorado with nothing but a suitcase in her car. She arrived in California at an important time too—her daughter had just had her children removed by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and placed with her adult son. Pregnant and scared, Dianne’s daughter faced the possibility of losing her unborn baby to the foster care system.

Dianne was determined to help, and arrived in California the day after her grandchild was born. She was ready to take steps forward to find a stable environment for the baby and her other grandchildren, but was also met with adversity. Overwhelmed and anxious about the potential outcomes, Dianne turned to Kingdom Causes Bellflower for help.

During her visit, Dianne met Jason, our Director of Housing Programs. She describes him as “gracious and supportive,” and explained how he guided her through the process of finding the resources she desperately needed. With Jason’s help, Dianne was able to get connected to a rental assistance resource we have in connection with the city of Paramount, and that would end up playing a huge role in stabilizing her and her family’s situation.

As someone who was born and raised in Paramount, Dianne found comfort in returning to her roots and being back with her family. The support she received allowed her to provide a residential address to DCFS for her grandchildren, which she needed if she was to have any hope of making things whole again.

Today, we are happy to share that Dianne's daughter has completed her residential program and is now successfully reunited with her children. She is eight months sober, and the baby is seven months old. Dianne’s heartfelt gratitude highlights the real impact of our community and the importance of both grants and private donations alike: “Without the services Jason provided, all of this could've been a way different outcome.”

Throughout the rest of the letter, Dianne reflected on how the assistance she received helped transform her family's future, stating, “It has truly been a blessing and an extreme loving and caring service both agencies have provided. Without these services, there would’ve been a way different outcome”

At KCB, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and support families like Dianne’s. Her story reminds us that God uses everyday people like you and us everyday, and how even a gift like compassion can be the main agent for lasting change.

We invite everyone to join us in uplifting our neighbors and fostering a community where all can truly live, work, and belong.

There’s many needs in our community. If you’re interested in partnering with us financially to help further this type of work, give us a call at 562-804-2189 or click on “Give Today” on our website’s homepage.
