Michael’s Story

We believe in the power of transformation and second chances, and this week, we’re highlighting a story about exactly that. Meet Michael.

Michael spent 11 years in prison, a time that kept him away from his 13-year-old son and from pursuing his dreams. Since his release a few months ago, he’s been focused on making up for lost time and building a better future. One of his key goals was to obtain his GED, understanding that it would open up new opportunities for him. He was committed and dedicated himself to studying every day and, through that determination, passed the test on his first attempt! This accomplishment was a big milestone for him, and the start of his bigger dream of becoming a certified electrician.

During his time with Good Soil Industries, Michael not only focused on his school goals but also secured a job at Sam’s Club! In his exit interview, he shared what he valued most about his time at GSI: "I valued the work environment, the respect that was given to me, and the opportunity GSI provided me with this job."

As Michael moves forward in his journey, he has a message for others considering the program: "This is a good program. They will help you achieve your goals and be successful."

Michael’s story is an example of what can be achieved with the right support and determination. As he continues working towards becoming a certified electrician and making the most of his new job, we celebrate his progress and look forward to seeing all that he will accomplish.

We are honored to be a part of Michael’s journey and remain committed to helping individuals like him find success and belonging. We believe in the potential of every person and are inspired by stories like Michael’s that highlight the power of second chances.
